The books of the poets give a well-defined profile of aesthetics in 1927 and 1928, such as the first works by Villalón, Guillén, Aleixandre, and Cernuda, and the new writings by Salinas, García Lorca or Alberti. Litoral, Revista de Occidente, and Mediodía published most of these books in Malaga, Madrid, and Seville.
Following these writers in chronological order by the date of birth, and the date of publication of their books, the first one is Fernando Villalón, an aristocrat who raised fighting bulls and became an enthusiastic member of the «new poetry» group. His first book was entitled Andalucía la Baja (1927), followed by the mythological poem, La Toriada (1928). The former ultraísta Rogelio Buendía published Guía de jardines in Huelva (1928). Pedro Salinas started publishing in several periodicals the poems collected later in his book Seguro azar (1929). Jorge Guillén published Cántico at the end of 1928. Mauricio Bacarisse, also a novelist, wrote El paraíso desdeñado (1928). Rafael Laffón edited Signo + in the Colección Mediodía, in Seville(1927). Gerardo Diego published a section of Fábula de Equis y Zeda, in Litoral before the complete book was published in Mexico, in 1930. Vicente Aleixandre’s Ámbito was first published as the sixth supplement of Litoral, (Malaga, 1928). César M. Arconada published Urbe (1928) in Imprenta Sur, Malaga. Federico García Lorca’s Canciones (1921-1924) appeared in Litoral’s first supplement (1927), and his Primer romancero gitano (1924-1927) was the first volume of the Revista de Occidente poetry collection in 1928. Concha Méndez published Surtidor (1928) in Madrid. Litoral’s fifth supplement was Vuelta (1927) by Emilio Prados. Rafael Alberti published a non-commercial edition of El alba del alhelí, in 1928, and the poem Domecq (1730-1928) in Jérez de la Frontera; he was also publishing in several periodicals the poems collected in Cal y canto and Sobre los ángeles, both published in 1929. Luis Cernuda’s Perfil del aire was published in Malaga, in 1927. José María Hinojosa’sLa rosa de los vientos (1927), illustrated by Francisco Bores was also published in that city. The following year, he published Orillas de la luz, with illustrations by Benjamín Palencia. Manuel Altolaguirre’s Ejemplo (1927) was Litoral’s ninth supplement. Ernestina de Champourcín’s Ahora (1928) was published in Madrid. Imprenta Sur also published Josefina de la Torre’s Versos y estampas (1927), with a prologue by Pedro Salinas.
