This documentary includes the only film images of Luis Cernuda and other young poets of his generation, such as Pedro Salinas, Jorge Guillén, Melchor Fernández Almagro, Fernando Villalón, Manuel Altolaguirre, Rafael Alberti, Dámaso Alonso, and Francisco García Lorca.

Juan Guerrero Ruiz shot this footage in 1928, with a Pathé Baby 9,5 mm. camera. He founded several literary periodicals that supported the young poets. Federico García Lorca called him «the Consul General of Spanish poetry,» and Juan Ramón Jiménez described him as  «someone who loved what belonged to somebody else's.»

The Filmoteca Nacional has restored, after a long and complex process, this unique footage that also includes a selection of poems read by their authors (María Teresa León, Antonio Espina, Alberto Sánchez, and Miguel Hernández), photographs, and archival material.

The first part of the documentary (1927 and1928) deals with «the desire» of the young poets; the second part (1929 and1936) focuses on the «reality» of their hazardous life.
