Le Corbusier, Exhibition Architect?

A conference by STANISLAUS VON MOOS within the series "Correspondencias europeas. Maestros de la arquitectura moderna.”

With the lecture Le Corbusier. Exhibition Architect?, Stanistlaus von Moos opened the series "Correspondencias europeas. Maestros de la arquitectura moderna,” on January 22, 2009, organized by the Residencia de Estudiantes with the collaboration of the Ministries of Housing and Culture, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, the British Council and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The series included prominent specialists from various European universities who analyzed the relevance of the intellectual legacy of the work of Le Corbusier, Erich Mendelsohn, Theo van Doesburg, Walter Gropius, Sigfried Giedion and Edwin Lutyens, all of whom visited the Residencia de Estudiantes during its historic period.

Stanislaus von Moos (Lucerne, 1940) is Professor Emeritus of Art History at the University of Zurich and Professor of Contemporary Architecture at the Accademia di Architettura de Mendrisio. He has also taught at other universities such as Harvard, Princeton and Delft. His research is focused as much on contemporary architecture as on the relationship between architecture and the visual arts in the 20th century. He is the author of a classic monograph about the Swiss architect Le Corbusier (Barcelona, 1977, original ed. 1968). More recently he served as curator for the exhibition Le Corbusier. The Art of Architecture, organized by the Vitra Design Museum.
