Mariano Fortuny

Mariano Fortuny and Madrazo (1871-1949), heir to a rich family tradition, worked as a painter, printmaker, photographer, in textiles, and as a fashion designer. In Venice, where he settled from 1891 onwards, he devised one of his most original works, the dress Delphos; woven with pleated silk and inspired by Greek art, it is a powerful symbol of modernity that does not shy away from the past.
