María Zambrano [1904-1991] De la razón cívica a la razón poética

The narrative structure of the exhibition follows a chronological order, including archival material such as Zambrano’s personal correspondence; original manuscripts; first editions of her books; journals and personal items kept at the Fundación María Zambrano in Vélez-Málaga, the Residencia de Estudiantes and other public and private institutions. Artwork associated with each section is also exhibited to illustrate Zambrano’s relationships with artists such as José Moreno Villa, Maruja Mallo, Wifredo Lam, Ramón Gaya, Luis Fernández, Juan Soriano, and Armando Barrios, among others.

 

The sections are the following:

1. Childhood and teenage years (1904-1923)
2. University education (1924-1930)
3. Commitment to the Republic (1930-1936)
4. The Civil War (1936-1939)
5. Exile I: Latin America(1939-1953)
6. Exile II: Europe (1953-1980)
7. Her recognition and return to Spain (1980-1991)
