2005 marks the 50th anniversary of Albert Einstein’s death and the 100th anniversary of the publication of his seminal articles, which substantially changed the fundamentals of physics. These are good reasons for having designated 2005 as the “International Year of Physics." The Sociedad Estatal de Conmemoraciones Culturales and the Residencia de Estudiantes contributed to the events commemorating these dates with the exhibition “Einstein en España,” and its catalog. It focused on Einstein’s trip to Spain in 1923, when he visited Barcelona, Madrid, and Saragossa.
The Residencia de Estudiantes, always attentive to science and scientific culture, was one of the places that offered Madrid the opportunity to hear Einstein’s theories and their revolutionary significance in science. Nowadays and through this web page, the Residencia keeps its role as a bridge between science and society.
The Ministry of Education and Science, through the Plan Nacional de I+D+I agency, sponsored this exhibition.
