He published Jacinta la pelirroja in the periodical Litoral (supplement no. 11) in Malaga, an unwonted book in the Spanish literature of the time. This book of poems, illustrated with his drawings, is still considered his most successful creation. Since he had not published a book of poetry for several years (he had been painting and writing about art criticism and the dissemination of modern art), Jacinta la pelirroja was a surprise: Moreno Villa was also claiming his place in contemporary Spanish poetry.Amantes, 1929. Private collection, Madrid.

Nevertheless, his creative activity focused on painting. He participated in the regional exhibition of modern art held in the Casa de los Tiros in Granada, and shared the prize for painting, awarded by the Diputación of Malaga, with his friend, Joaquín Peinado, who was also from Malaga. His works showed his artistic evolution. Along with still life pictures that followed the aesthetic trends set by the Spanish painters settled in Paris- Bodegón de las uvas, the painting that was awarded the prize, would be a good example – there were others, like Cisnes, where he played with transparencies and overlaid images.

La Gaceta Literaria opened its exhibition hall in Madrid and invited Moreno Villa to serve as master of ceremonies in the inaugural ceremony, where he read a speech entitled "Instead of vinegar, iodine.”
