Poetry at la Residencia

La voz de Juan Gelman

Sponsored by the Fundación Autor, Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (2008)

Juan Gelman (Buenos Aires, 1930), one the greatest Latin American poets, Cervantes Award winner (2007), read his poems at the Residencia in September, 2004. Listening to his voice, one can follow his extensive and varied work, from Anunciaciones to País que fue será, and go through the emotional states of a poet who, as he himself said in one of his poems, “escribe porque/la vida lo escribe.”

POESIA EN LA RESIDENCIA presents, as a living document, the voice of the great contemporary Spanish and Latin American poets who have been reading since 1988, when Rafael Alberti opened these series. Each volume includes a CD, a transcript, and a brief biography of the poet.
