Pablo Neruda, Álbum

This book is the second title of the Residencia’s collection that began with Luis Cernuda’s .  It has been published with support from the Fundación Endesa and the cooperation of the Fundación Pablo Neruda in Chile.

The book is a thorough biography of Pablo Neruda and his work, with a comprehensive iconography.  José Carlos Rovira relates the main events in the poet’s life, from his birth, in the village of Parral in 1904, until his death in Santiago de Chile, in 1973, a few days after Augusto Pinochet’s coup d´état.

It deals with the beginnings of his literary vocation, his trips in Asia, his years in Spain and his friendship with the poets of the Generación del 27, his return to Chile, his political activity and the Novel Prize in Literature in 1971.

The photos come from the archives of the Fundación Pablo Neruda, Bernardo Reyes, Fundación Federico García Lorca, Sara Facio, Poli Délano, Nurieldín Hermosilla, The Swedish Association of Photographers, and the Residencia de Estudiantes.
