This volume is a collection of the lecturers given by José Jiménez Lozano (October 28, 29 and 30, 2002).  Premio Cervantes 2002 winner, he reflected upon the art of narrative, the “demons” that haunt the writer, the short story as opposed to the epic novels, Cervantes and Dostoyevsky as models, and concluded with "Coda sobre algunas pejigueras", his reflections on the writer’s métier.

The book includes a brief autobiographical lecture, "Cuentas con uno mismo", given at the Residencia, July 4th,  2000.
