Benjamín Jarnés’ correspondence with Juan Ramón Jiménez, Pedro Salinas, Federico García Lorca, Luis Cernuda and Ramón Gómez de la Serna, among others, three hundred letters kept, for the most part, at the Residencia de Estudiantes archives. These letters draw a portrait of Jarnés and his intellectual and artistic milieu.
Professors Jordi Gracia and Domingo Ródenas de Moya wrote the prologue which deals with Jarnes’ significance as a link between writers of the Generación de 1914 and the young avant-garde artists, his work as a novelist, essayist, literary critic and mentor to writers in 1930’s. It concludes with an anthology of Jarnés’ diaries.
