New edition of the book published in1976 by Revista de Occidente that remains as the most thorough monograph about the university theater founded by the Republican government in 1931 and led by Federico García Lorca. Luis Sáenz de la Calzada, alumnus of the Residencia de Estudiantes and member of La Barraca, writes a chronicle of the daily life and the characters involved in this project which took classical theater to the villages of Spain. With the freshness and spontaneity of his reminisces, he recounts anecdotes, tours, plays, sets, and the team spirit of the members. This edition includes the hitherto unpublished songs used by Federico García Lorca in the plays, the music written by Ángel Barja, and Jorge de Persia’s essay on Lorca and music.
