The first biannual symposium, “Los refugiados españoles y la cultura Mexicana,” focused on the relationship between Spanish and Mexican cultures in the 20th century as a result of the exile of artists, intellectuals and scientists after the Spanish Civil War.
It was held at the la Residencia in 1994. The papers included in this volume dealt with many aspects discussed at the symposium, from personal recollections to essays on social, scientific, artistic, and philosophical issues.
