Volume 16 of Poetry at the Residence collection is dedicated to the poet Fina García Marruz, awarded in 2011 with the Premio Reina Sofia de Poesía Iberoamericana 2011 and the Premio Internacional de Poesía Ciudad de Granada Federico García Lorca.
"Let me say that I have done very little reading of my poetry, I think if I made three or four in my whole life there are too many," Fina García Marruz says at the beginning of this reading, full with rich comments and insightful clues about her poetic ideas. The reading took place at the Residencia de Estudiantes on June 1, 1998. Fina belongs to the second generation of the group Orígenes, which emerged around the periodical of the same name that José Lezama Lima founded and directed between 1944 and 1956. Fina García Marruz is a poet that deals with the most intimate areas of memory, using a genuinely secret Cuban imagery and with a very personal religious dimension, a poet that, in the words of María Zambrano, "performs this feat that involves writing without breaking the silence, the deep stillness of being."
The volume includes a CD with the recording of the reading, with a transcript, a brief biography about the life and work of poet, and an index of the sources of the poems.
