The Schools in Mexico, D.F.
  Instituto Luis Vives

The Instituto Luis Vives was the first school of the exile. It opened in August 1939, a few months after the end of Spanish Civil War. It was directly linked to Servicio de Evacuación de los Republicanos Españoles, an aid organization led by supporters of Socialist Juan Negrín. It was a high school that taught students who wanted to go to college. It was a small center, with some 500 students, with a prestigious faculty that had already taught during the Second Republic in Spain.

Instituto Luis Vives

The Luis Vives went through some difficult times, but it was always able to succeed thanks to the strong determination of the whole school community and the support of the alumni. Like other schools, the Instituto gradually incorporated its alumni as teachers who knew the educational system of the center, a fact that allowed the maintenance of much of its initial characteristics.
