Altolaguirre starts Ediciones Isla with Gómez Mena’s support and publishes four new collections: “Los clásicos,” “El siglo de oro,” “Los románticos,” and “Los modernos”. His new book of poems, Nuevos poemas de Las islas invitadas (1946), appears separately from those collections, as well as works by Moreno Villa, José Manuel Gallegos Rocafull and Elías Nandino. In 1946, Gómez Mena and Altolaguirre seem to end their relationship. Altolaguirre dedicates himself to journalism and other film-related projects. After his reconciliation with Gómez Mena in 1948, he publishes Fin de un amor (1949).
